Have You Ever Loved Somebody So Much it Makes You...

...LAUGH?

(Ha ha, you may have thought I was channeling my inner-R&B star [aka Brandy]....or that I was going to complete her lyric by saying "cry"---if that's the case than you stand corrected.)  Now that I think about it though, this somebody makes me both laugh, AND cry!  (In that case, perhaps you don't stand as corrected as previously thought....perhaps you SIT corrected?  Is that even possible?)

So I don't do this often, but I wanted to sing the praises of a fabulous blogger....one who's example makes me want to be a better person, but she makes me laugh with just about every post.  Every so often there are some tears shed, but for the most part this blogger keeps me in stitches!

Of course I'm referring to the one, the only.....THE CRASH TEST DUMMY!!! (aka Debbie aka "Crash")

Now, Crash is one lady I've yet to meet, but hope to someday.

Why?  Well....
  • She has a heart of gold.
  • She'll make you giggle.
  • She's refreshing.
  • She's a talented writer/comedienne.
  • She's an amazing mom.
  • She is a great humanitarian, as she has a project called The Magic Quilt going that reaches out and warms the lives of some incredibly tender souls.
  • She helps instill hope for some who may have misplaced it.
  • She. is. amazing.
  • She reminds me of a funny Mother Teresa.
  • She lifts her readers with her fresh, honest approach to daily living, follows it up with a punchline (or twelve), and then leaves you scrambling for a tissue as you witness healing & spiritual growth...and not just in her life either!
That healing & growth is in the lives of those Crash comes in contact with.  It occurs before your very eyes, and it is a lovely thing.

When I mentioned earlier of Crash being like unto a certain infamous saint, I mean that Crash's example leads me to often return to Mother Teresa's organization, the Missionaries of Charity and their example.  This was Mother Teresa's inner-calling & "project" of sorts, to live among the poorest of the poor and give all she/they had.  As in, giving until it hurt....otherwise, they believed, it wasn't true giving.  (I know, WOW!---Massive epiphany, right?)  In Mother Teresa's own words, their purpose is for "...all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone."

In one particular situation of compassion, a man was brought in off the streets to Calcutta's house for the dying.  He was emaciated and half-eaten by maggots.  Mother Teresa and her fellow sisters proceeded to feed him, cleanse his body, tend to his wounds, & remove every last worm from his body.  Before the man passed away he said, "I have lived like an animal in the street, but I am going to die like an angel..."

Compassionate service, as was customarily rendered by the sisters, gave this man back his dignity!  Not only were his physical wounds addressed, but also his emotional, mental, and spiritual wounds as well.

What better gift can we give, if not everything we have to offer, but most importantly that restored dignity?

There is none, me thinks.

"Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."  (Matthew 25:40)

It may seem that a quilt would be a small token to offer.  However, each of Crash's Magic Quilts bring comfort....love....appreciation...awareness...a pinch of hope...a dash of tears...and above all DIGNITY.

So, ladies & gents, this is why I love Crash so much....and why you should think about frequenting her blogs and getting to know her better...and helping if you can with another Magic Quilt.  They're also ALL great reasons you should vote for her to get this new job/gig with Nature Made!
