Grateful for...

  • modern marvels:  like today's medicine.  Thank goodness for Urgent Care, especially tonight so Mini-Me can be on the mend much more quickly... thus missing less school, thus driving her poor ol' mom less bonkers... thus everyone's that much happier that much sooner.
  • modern marvels:  like cell phones.  Communication is so efficient.  (Though I do miss my old, heavy rotary phone.)
  • modern marvels:  like computers, satellites & DSL.  Speaking of efficiency, presentations are practically instantaneous... conducting business is more streamlined, so less Holiday time is wasted in lines at the mall.  Plus, blogging is such a great resource for journaling & networking.
  • modern marvels:  like vehicles.  Whether a plane, train, automobile or truck, they not only provide speedy transportation, but also ensure job-security for millions & millions the world over.
...modern marvels:  revelation.  Like all of the above things, today's "advancements" are here all because of some sort of modern revelation.  Together they are articulate instruments meant to be employed in the building up of the Kingdom of God... even by way of allowing for more time in our lives that we can devote to serving Heavenly Father.

"How wonderful it is that we believe in modern revelation. I cannot get over the feeling that if revelation were needed anciently, when life was simple, that revelation is also needed today, when life is complex. There never was a time in the history of the earth when men needed revelation more than they need it now."
~President Gordon B. Hinckley, ("Inspirational Thoughts," Ensign, September 2007)

"Revelation need not all come at once. It may be incremental. 'Saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more' (2 Nephi 28:30). Patience and perseverance are part of our eternal progression."
~Elder Russell M. Nelson, ("Ask, Seek, Knock," Ensign, November 2009.)
