And it Came to Pass, Fourteen Years Ago Today

...I received the most shocking and terrifying news up to that point
...Which was to become the greatest blessing of my lifetime.

Fourteen years ago, today, I went to the doctor thinking I had Mono; only to find out I was:
  • in fact expecting
  • that I was about to start my second trimester
  • and that my whole world was going to change quicker than I could have imagined.

Hind sight = its all been for the best.

I am a better person than I would've remained, had I not had to suddenly focus on someone else's life other than my own.

Now, standing at a point where the likelihood of another child entering our life seems completely impossible, I am so grateful for the Lord's timing which I didn't understand when it was all happening.

"...Children are an heritage to the Lord..."  (Psalm 127:3)

She's a good girl...the best girl...the greatest gift I could ever hope for: a beautifully smart daughter (who knows she's not only mine but a strong daughter of God) and the gift of being a mother.

This I cherish, as many wonderful women do not know this joy, and may not ever.  (I wish they could know.  I wish I could again.)

So, December's kind of a special month for us.  It's OUR month.

  • December 3rd- the day I first learned about her
  • December 6th- the first time I saw her

Fourteen years later and for forever, Mini-Me will always be my favorite Christmas present!  (5 years later, Mr LKP was my favorite Thanksgiving present!)

So--December 3rd is our girls' day, huh? And not until fourteen weeks? You were past all the yucky.
Great post.

That is so funny. When I found out that I was pregnant with my 14 year old I thought I would be rushed to the operating room because of some strange sickness. :) Happy birthday to your cute girl!

The girls are dancing around to the song... a baby does change EVERYTHING! What a beautiful song.
You were lucky to make it to the second trimester, with no morning sickness... I had morning sickness from the day I fell pregnant. I ate so many gingernut cookies trying to stop the sick feeling... I haven't bought gingernut cookies for over 6 years :) Can't even look at them!
Enjoy your special time....you're a great mum!

What a great surprise! Who wants mono anyway?

Isn't it wonderful what a baby can do to a family. Even 14 years later, she's doing wonderful things!

Beautiful post! I can feel the love you have for her! I am so grateful I have met you! You have inspired me to focus on my little girl and not that I don't have a second child yet. It will happen if it is meant to be. Happy Birthday Little Miss Daisy!

Love the Faith Hill song.
And if only Sissy's mom could be the kind of Momma you are! Really! Your baby is a lucky girl to have a mom who loves her so much and chose to focus on her rather than yourself.

Love you!
