Grateful for Musical Evenings

I know I was already grateful for our impending night with Mindy Gledhill, as she had a show Saturday at the Country Mercantile's Red Barn.  However, after having actually BEEN there and the event unwrapped beautifully, I'm even more grateful.

Lauren Fox opened for Mindy, and her set was awesome!  She sang some of her own material, but also sang Raffi's "Baby Beluga" as well as Marina & the Diamonds' "I am Not a Robot!"  Sooooo incredibly fabulous!


It was sweet, from beginning to end.  It was such an intimate venue, with minimal lighting and a darling bunting that the infamous, and ever talented Dandee made!  Marilyn absolutely outdid herself....PLUS it was sold out about a week prior to the show....with standing room only towards the back (Which was where Mr LKP & I were, so we could dance a little with no one noticing.  Hee hee!),  Mini-Me got a chair.  (Considering how sick she'd been the past week, we wanted her to be able to relax.  Worked like a charm.  Halfway through Lauren's set I glanced over and Mini-Me had fallen asleep!  That's not as bad as it sounds, since her body really was probably overwhelmed since she'd just rested all week.  I loved that Lauren was so soothing with her voice and her guitar that Mini-Me felt at peace enough to close her eyes.  Good things.  All good things!)

By the end of the show, we were all on Cloud 9, and Mini-Me suddenly morphed into a major autograph hound!  She snagged Mindy's signature on her CDs & sheet music as well as the two gentlemen that accompanied Mindy.  Lol!  Then she begged Lauren for her autograph as well.  Which was fabulous, cause it gave Lauren & I a chance to catch-up since she moved away from here earlier this past year!

What a wonderful night, filled with great musical talents, and familiar faces galore; including that of the talented Lee Ann Norris, who was the photographer of the evening.  (Hadn't seen her in years, since right about when we moved home from Idaho, and she was moving to Washington D.C.!)

Thank you to all who gave everything they could for the beautiful night.  Ya'll hit a home run!

Grateful for Uplifting Evenings

Getting all dolled-up...

• First, for a birthday for one of my favorite nieces/2nd-cousins.
• Second, for the Mindy Gledhill concert tonight, sponsored by this lovely lady!

Can't wait.

I fell in love with Mindy's talent & voice when she did the song "Small Enough" [which IS a fabulous cover of one of Nichole Nordeman's greatest songs ever---close second would be "Legacy" in case you were wondering---but Nichole is a whole other post for the future.]  When you hear Mindy's version, you'll be over the moon as well, I guarantee it!)

One Little Click on the Dial

Amazing what a difference one little thing can make.... like one little click on the dial of my camera.
One little click will take everything from a stubborn grasp on the darkness, to letting all the warm, loveliness of dawn flood in.....

...one little click is all it takes to breathe again.

How often is it a matter of one little click in our own lives?

Do we choose to take that tiny step that makes our day rather than breaking it?

For instance, I could've grumbled at 5am today, glared at the clock and then rolled over and back into an attempt to milk every last drop out of dreamland.  Instead I chose to advance one more click by getting up, putting on my jacket & boots, and feeding the animals early.  As the light started to seep over the Blue Mountains and into another day on the Ranch, I was taken by the sunrise....so much so that I ran into the house & grabbed my camera.

In one word: Glorious!

Does that mean I was at my supermodel best out there amidst the sagebrush that's taller than me in some places?  Absolutely not.  Matter of fact, you must know how comical I must have appeared to the orchard workers rolling into work, as there I was in all my draggletailed brilliance.... swiss-cheese gray sweats, stuffed into my cowgirl boots.... hoodie irresponsibly zipped over a ratty Mighty Mouse t-shirt (as if that was more than sufficient to pull it altogether).... hair on-end to salute the sun in some places, including some unruly greasie bangs.  Let me tell ya, I was a stunner!  You'd have all been extremely proud. 

Point-being, none of it phased me as I had chosen one more click on the dial this morning.  I chose to be IN the morning, IN the day from the beginning.  What a difference it's made in the rest of my day and my attitude towards all I need to accomplish.  Rather than race back to bed now that all the animals have been let out to stretch & exercise....all have been fed....and Mini-Me made it safely on the bus; instead I have been able to snag some satisfying photos & have relished in a lovely mug of hot cider!

What a day already!
All because of one little click on my dial.
